The morning came with a blue bird that landed on the main branch just outside the doorway and incessantly chirped.

“What is all that noise?” Peadar said, sitting up.

As if the bird heard him, it bounced its way inside the tree room.

“A blue bird,” Evlyn said, walking over to usher their new friend out the tree room. “Shoo, beautiful bird. Time to go find your mother, little bird.”

The bird hopped around and half flew but did not leave until everyone was awake and helped shoo it away.

“Damn bird,” Peadar said. “Doesn’t it know I need my sleep.”

Evlyn shrugged. The bird might’ve been annoying if sleep was the goal, but they had other priorities at the moment.

“Well, it did wake us up at the time we needed to head out, so we may as well use it to our advantage and get moving,” Ryo said.

“Sounds like a good idea to me,” Evlyn said, and glanced at Peadar, “don’t you think?”

“I do unfortunately,” Peadar said, packing up his pack.

The trio packed up their gear and headed out to the bogval camp where the shaman was last seen.
